Microsoft has recently unveiled a great opportunity for Windows 8 and Windows Phone Developers. The “Keep The Cash” program allows developers the potential to make $100 per application published to either store. You can submit up to 10 apps per Store and get $100 for each qualified app up to $2000.
*Offer good only to the first 10,000 qualified applications published in the Windows Store and/or Windows Phone Store, or until the end of the promotional period, whichever comes first. Limit 10 entries per publisher ID and up to $2,000 per person. The Keep The Cash program may decline entries that are based on similar code base, so please keep in mind that you may only receive one $100 cash reward for apps created with this lab.
What if you are brand new to Windows 8 / Phone development and don’t have an idea where to start?
For those of you new to these platforms, I have created a lab in Part 1 of this series that will allow you to complete all the necessary steps involved in producing and submitting an application to the Windows Phone 8 marketplace.
You will learn how to provide pinning functionality, manipulate the UI, provide contact info to your users, and configure data sources from popular third party services like Twitter and Youtube.
At the end of the lab you will be able to create an application similar to the examples below:
I have taken care to include a slide in the lab presentation with information about CloudShare. With the CloudShare service you can instantly create a virtual environment with all of the Software Requirements Pre-Installed to begin both Windows Phone and Windows 8 development. If your personal machine is unable to run the required software (Windows 8 / Windows Phone 8 SDK) this is a nice way to work around that opens the door up to everyone!
