Windows Store Apps with a local touch in Houston Texas

If you are like most folks, you want apps that matter to you and day to day life.  Local apps that connect us with our education centers and favorite sports teams make life easier and more connected.  As a technology enthusiast – I love seeing this growing group of apps that have a local touch.  I would like to encourage anyone in the Houston area to reach out if they have any apps that cater to the local scene and I’ll have that appended to this list.  Here are a few that you can check out today.

Being a graduate of the University of Houston Computer Science department, it is only fitting that I talk about University of Houston – Computer Science.  Go Coogs!  This app gives you a directory of the UH computer science faculty including room number, contact info, e-mail and even photos.  This app certainly could have been handy while I was attending UH when looking for that particular professor who had that specialty in that certain thing =)

I’m also a big Houston Astros fan and like to stay up to date on the game recaps, team stats and game schedule.  With the Houston Astros app by StatSheet, I can do just that.

The Windows Store offers a great selection of apps that get you connected to your community.  I would love to hear any ideas on how we can widen the ecosystem of apps available to our area.  If you have an idea, send me an email I would be more than happy to get together in person to help get you get started.  Rock on and keep Houston awesome!
